My process

At Jill Duncan Jewellery, each piece begins with a spark of inspiration, often from the materials themselves. The process involves careful consideration of form and function, blending traditional techniques with innovative approaches. From initial sketches to the final polish, every step is executed with precision and care, ensuring a unique and meaningful piece of jewellery.

My Materials

I work with a wide array of materials, ranging from precious metals like silver and gold to found objects and recycled materials. My 'precious to you' philosophy means that the emotional value of a material is just as important as its inherent worth. This guides my selection process, ensuring that each piece tells a unique and personal story.

Upcycling Projects

My first recycling project was at Grays School of Art in my second year.  It was constructed from steel cans and inspired me look around  for materials that may may be going to waste.

This is 'Brave: .  Made from recycled plastics and electronics this was part of a London show. I combined this with waste fibreoptic cable. The plastic was waste material from a building project and a lighting company kindly gave me offcuts from their architectural projects.

This Geiger style silver bracelet was inspired by random things found in a friends loft and cast into Silver.  It made me think of the Alien aesthetic.

Uniqueness

My unique process is defined by a deep commitment to sustainability and personal connection. By prioritizing upcycling, recycling, and the use of found objects, I strive to minimize environmental impact while creating jewellery that resonates with individual stories and emotions. Each piece is a testament to the beauty of transformation and the power of personal expression.
